Star Bringer by Nina Croft, Tracy Wolff

4.0

Star Bringer is a space opera romance and I really enjoyed it - I was invested in all of the main characters and it hooked me from very early on.  The story features a lot of common space opera ideas and tropes, and while it's not the most original it's certainly very entertaining.

I enjoyed both the central relationships, and I really appreciate that we got two - one of which was sapphic and the other straight. This is unfortunately the type of romance where characters are constantly thinking of how attractive their love interest is even in the midst of dangerous situations. While it didn't overly bother me this time, I could see it being irritating if I was in a different type of reading mood.

There are a number of family relationships featured, all with different and interesting dynamics, and I do wish more time had been spent on each of them. One in particular felt significantly underdeveloped to me. Still, this is the first book in a series and hopefully there will be more focus on developing these relationships in future.

Overall a fun, fast paced read that I had a good time with.
