Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour

4.5/5 stars!!!

I like short books. This is a short book. And in the end, I ended up loving this! Thus, I have concluded my studies and have found out that I need to read more from Nina LaCour and pick up more short books.

But lets get into why I loved this story in particular.

Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour is simple. But not in a bad way. In a quiet, melodic, kind of way.

This story follows Mila, she has aged out of foster care and is interning at a farm. But this contemporary story is pack with more than your average YA. Watch Over Me blurs the lines between genres, adding in ghosts that may or may not be real. It's brimming with grief, with love and found-family, with trauma, all within less than 300 pages.

I loved Mila as a character. I loved all of the other side-characters. I loved the slight paranormal element, the cozy atmosphere, and the fluid writing style. I love the idea of this being a story that I could reread and get more out of a second time.

Also, have you seen the cover? It's gorgeous!
