I don’t know how to put in my experience of reading this book into words, other than it felt like I was watching a TV show over multiple episodes, rather than reading a book. At times I felt myself thinking “hmmm this must be a bottle episode” or “so where is this all heading?”. I don’t mean this in a bad way at all. So many sci fi books feel like a desperate march to the conclusion with little time to enjoy the “now”. The characters were delightful and the story was fun. It was enjoyable and entertaining. I just can’t put my finger on it but I felt like the book was missing something.
