First 400 pages were the continuation of book one and rest of the book felt like short stories from kvothe's life. I really enjoyed reading the first 400 pages of the book, and rest bored me to death. Everything after the Maer part was dragged out, and had me wanting kvothe to return to the familiar territories. I was missing all the old characters, and I was feeling nothing for the new ones. Also, kvothe began to get on my nerves, I really didn't like him in this book. The book was longer than first one, and it really felt like it. The pacing was slow and some parts were a pain to read. However, when kvothe returned to the university, everything was back to normal, and I was in love again.
I am glad i am not the only one who felt this way about this book, there are so many people who didn't like this book as much as the liked the first one. so at least I am not alone.
If I had read this book when It came out, I would have lost Interest by now for sure. It's not good enough to keep one anxious for the third book for 7 years. I repeat 7 years.
I loved the writing. Patrick is an amazing writer, no doubt. I loved how descriptive these books were and how they took me to another world. I have never read anything more engrossing than these books, ever. However, like i mentioned before there were parts in the second book, specifically, that weren't that Interesting. But I don't think it was the writing that made those parts boring, they just felt out of place to me. I didn't know how to connect them with the main story and what the purpose of those parts were. so I guess it was more my dumbness than anything else.
Not a perfect book, but a definitely an Interesting one.
