Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion by Jia Tolentino

While reading this book I found myself continually struggling to explain it to people who asked what I was reading; I guess the best way I could describe it is a series of essays on contemporary womanhood. Not all of the essays are specific to women, but many are, and I found Tolentino's perspective relatable and thought that she put into words many things I could not.

I especially liked the chapters on the internet, optimization, "difficult" women, and marriage. They all showed what madness it is to exist in today's society in which everything can be political and nobody has a clear perspective. Though I didn't agree with all of her opinions, this is still well worth the read, and I loved it.
