<b><i>"we will have as many last kisses as it takes to finally be back where we belong, tesoro."</b></i>
this was pain after pain after pain, what sweet agony. to say i wasn't expecting the emotional depth and turmoil this story put me through after the whole mess that was the previous book is an understatement. this felt more like a continuation of book one than the last one, it was not only on par with the level of the first book, it was better. the writing was overall more consistent and layered, but there were no blantant errors to cut the flow of the story. it was a pleasant surprise and for that i am glad i gave this series and the author a second chance. hopefully, the final instalment in this series will be the best book yet because there's definitely potential for the biggest character arc when it comes to the next mmc after everything he has done so far. lastly, i will say i genuinely appreciate how the author wasn't afraid to end another mafia book with the male lead leaving the organization (like his brother, keller), it made so much sense to luca's character and showed not only his growth but it was what he deserved, ever since the start of the series.
