The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
3.0
I just don’t have much to say about this book. I absolutely adore The Hunger Games and I preordered this as soon as I could but it just didn’t do it for me? I would have much rather read about why Snow’s breath always smelled like poison, or stuff later on in his career.
I did like Lucy Gray Baird though. I liked the way she was a singer/songwriter of sorts and I love books with characters like that. Reminds me of myself (except for the fact that I can’t sing) I wanted more of Lucy Gray!!! The whole Covey was really sweet but I wish there was a bit more on them.
It also felt kind of bland the way we got Snow’s POV, who is a mentor, not a tribute, so you don’t really get much of the actual games.
Snow creeped me out. The last 30ish pages were amazing. They just raised the stakes and they were weird and creepy and twisted and everything I loved about the original trilogy. The end had me freaked out, not gonna lie.
All that said, I didn’t loath this book. It was just okay.
