I did generally like the book, the pacing just felt a bit up and down to me. Some parts flew by and I was fairly invested, and some seemed to drag a lot more. 

René is probably one of the more annoying/unlikable characters I've read in a good while. 

It felt a bit different than a lot of the other vampire books I've read.
