Right Man, Right Time by Meghan Quinn

5.0

THIS WAS SINGLE HANDEDLY ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ.
I WILL ACCEPT ZERO CRITICISM.
BEST ROM-COM BOOK!!!

Out of the three books in this series, this is easily the best one. Silas and Ollie are amazing separately and together. You definitely do not have to read the first two books, originally, I didn't. I read them after I read this one. Although I did love reading about Silas in the first two books but that was because I already loved him.

Tropes: Age gap, hockey romance, fake dating, and found family I'd say.

I already knew I was going to like this book based of the tropes, but WOW this book surpassed every standard.
Starting off with how they met?! It was amazing. Ollie was confident, her humor/personality is amazing (props to Ross since he encouraged Ollie to listen to Silas), their banter was amazing and funny. I loved that even in the beginning, she knew exactly what he needed, and she was there for him, on literally the first day she met him. I don't think I've loved a character more than I have as I do Ollie. She was confident, witty, vulnerable at times, knew what she wanted and went after it. Whereas Silas was unsure of himself (at least relationship wise), he easily kept up with her banter, he went with the flow when it came to Ollie, I LOVED his friend group, and I mean the dude has THE piercing. I loved that she would reassure him, she was patient and willing to wait for him. I appreciated that he was the "broken" one and not vice versa, as how that is in most books. It made me love Silas that much more because we got to see a more emotional side of him.

I'm glad their relationship wasn't an insta-love, they had a genuine friendship, easy flowing conversations, and I much appreciated the fact that they were friends for a while before anything was pursued.

EASILY, one of the best scenes was when Ollie was telling her boss and his wife how her and Silas "met." I have NEVER laughed so hard and so much at a book scene that much. Like literally slapping the wall of how much I was laughing. And then when she told that same story to his friends. It shows how much of a great addition Ollie is to their friend group/family.

I loved all of their ups and downs. It was crucial to their relationship and some of it was foreshadowing to the third act breakup. Yes, there is a third act breakup, but I genuinely loved it. Of course, I hated how both parties were hurt, but it was PERFECT for their story. It wasn't a miscommunication or something dumb, it was more so bad luck and wrong place wrong time. The reasoning for the breakup was understandable. If you know, you know. But I think everything that happened afterward was meant to happen, like everything Ollie went through. Then once they reunited it was perfect.
So all in all, this is the best rom-com book I have ever read.

Favorite quotes/scenes:

-"How old are you?"
"Twenty-one. How old are you?"
"Thirty-one"
"Ew, you're in your thirties?"
"It's not like I said I was sixty."
"Still...thirties, so old"
"It's not that fucking old."

-"What sort of wizardry does this woman possess? Has she bugged my dorm room? Tapped into my text messages? Become a mind reader and can hear and see my every freaking thought? I will take this secret to my grave. To the freaking grave! *pounds finger into table*"

-"First of all, I did not claim you were jerkin' your gherkin while staring at the donkeys. All I said was your fly was down. If you took that as something else, that's on you, sir."
"While eating a goddamn chicken tender. That's weird behavior, Ollie."

-"Could you imagine if I met you for the first time and told you your dick looked nice in your jeans?" Hornsby asks.
"Wouldn't hurt to hear it every once in a while."
"Ahhh," Ollie coos, "Silas, your dick looks fantastic in your jeans."
"Well fuck me, that makes me blush."
"Thanks, babe."

-"My dorm was nothing like this when I was in college."
"Oh yeah, Granddad?" "Tell me, how was it back in the day."
"You're such a punk, you know that?"
"Makes this friendship more fun, don't you think?"
"Makes me feel like a goddamn geriatric."
"I'm sorry, please, regale me with your tales from ye old college years."

-" You're sexy, Silas. You have the kind of body I could worship. If you were mine, I wouldn't let you out of the bedroom. I'd make it my mission to have my mouth on every last inch of your skin."

-"I'll be patient, Silas, because you're worth it."

-"You brought me back to life. I don't want to lose that. I don't want to lose you. "
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm yours, Silas. Only yours."

-"I'm hers, and it all started with a surprising, soul-changing kiss."
