It’s cool to read an early alien sci-fi where so many stories got inspiration, but it’s not a new favorite. I liked the writing at times, but there were several passages that felt like a chore to get through. I enjoyed one aspect of the story that was explored in book 1, but it was dropped with no resolution so ended up feeling pointless by the end which is a shame.
