There’s tears from the off, it is so sad to witness Marigold lose her mum at such a tender age. Then at 24 she loses the woman who took her under her wing; her best friend’s mother.
There has always been something between Mare and Cade but right before she left for college he pushes her away and broke his heart. She doesn’t realise that he didn’t mean the things he said and his heart has been broken too by her continued absence.
The dual timeline is a really interesting way to tell their story. To be able to experience them falling in love for the first time and again for the final time is lovely and helps us to understand the true depth of Marigold and Cade’s feelings.
It’s so emotional 😭 they are forced to spend time together, neither of them want to admit to the depths of their feelings and they are just skirting around each other. It’s building some fantastic tension though.
I hate how angry he is at her. He told her to leave! How can he be angry that she listened. They eventually direct their anger towards other pursuits and it’s ducking fantastic. 🔥
Oh my god, this man’s mouth… panty destroying 🥵🥵🥵
The book is heavy on the steam after the halfway point and it’s all very detailed, descriptive and fantastically written. I feel like I’ve been put through the wringer between the emotion and the spice but it was absolutely perfect.
Kat smashes it again and I can’t wait to read Camden and Pippa’s story now.
