I read this with a gifted copy courtesy of publishers Simon & Schuster and as part of a Tandem Collective readalong. This review represents my own thoughts on the book.
Anatomy of a Scandal is one of those books I saw advertised so many times when it was first published that I actually began to believe I’d read it. I’m so glad that being part of the Tandem Collective readalong and watchalong for this book and upcoming Netflix series promoted me to actually read it, because it’s a cracker.
A thriller set in the world of the privilege elite the story considers issues of consent, the challenges of getting a conviction in sexual offence cases in an adversarial justice system, and whether people in privileged positions who always seem to get away with things ever get their comeuppance.
It’s a painfully realistic look at very current issues. The sheer arrogance of some of the characters had me practically shouting out loud at the pages, and I’ll admit to actually muttering some choice phrases to myself while reading.
An excellent read and I really hope the Netflix series does it justice.
