Jay's Gay Agenda by Jason June
4.0
Content warnings: Homophobia (stereotyping), racism (stereotyping), throwing up, minimal blood, cheating/lying.
Representation: Gay mc, gay side characters, Black drag queen, poc gay side characters, Chinese gay love interest, genderfluid gay side character.
There was so much draaammaa in this and I loved it!
Some takeaways:
-def sex positive. For those interested in sex and others, who want to take their time, and want to feel comfortable with bodies. Layers of sex positivity.
-love that characters make mistakes and learn from them (though, I do think that it was take a little longer to forgive)
-so funny and made me laugh out of loud. Other noises were also made in amusement and excitement.
- the Black drag queen did feel a little too Magical Negro for me. I mean, yes, she's beautiful and amazing, but it felt too stereotypical, there to aid the non-Black character and then disappear.
-Love Max's energy.
-Loved Mark's voice for all the characters (listened to audiobook)
If you are looking for a book to take you back to a time when you were full of raging hormones and just wanted someone to just hold you and at the same time, wanting a close-knit friend-fam, this book is for you!
