Although I did find the ending slightly realistic.  I still loved this book and this duology immediately heads to the top of my list as my favorite Marie Lu series.
What is described to be a thousand-year-old empire is destroyed simply by killing its ruler. There are no people who continue to stand for Karesan beliefs and the transition to separate countries is seamless and unrealistic simply.
