I made the mistake of reading the author bio and part of the acknowledgements section before really reading the book, so I almost didn’t finish it, but boy am I glad that I did. This was everything you want in a dragon rider story: adventure and political intrigue and a heroine who won’t quit. I found myself loving the characters and believing their choices, and hats off to the author for ensuring that her representation of queer and disabled people was accurate and honorable. This is absolutely a “get you out of your reading slump” book, and I am so looking forward to the sequel.
