You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle

2.0

My first read of the year (although i started it in December so it’s kind of a hold over) and I am disappointed. I thought I would love this book. It seems like everyone loves this book. It’s an enemies to lovers second chance romance—all things I love. But in the case of You Deserve Each Other, I found myself so extremely frustrated with elements I would normally love.

The “enemies” part of this book was insufferable. Every fight or prank Nicholas and Naomi had was so childish and immature. I couldn’t really bring myself to root for either of them because their actions were just so unbelievably childish. And for a lot of the book, Naomi refused to even consider the notion that Nicholas might not *always* be the bad guy. I know that’s part of the point, but when it happens time and time again and it seems like she’s not learning, it’s frustrating as a reader. I just was so annoyed about 60% of this book.

The last part was...nice? I did like seeing Nicholas and Naomi’s relationship start to heal but ultimately it wasn’t enough for me? This book felt extremely unbalanced. To me it felt like we spent all this time with them while they hated each other that their make up should have been satisfying, but it just wasn’t. It felt so short and rushed. I don’t know. I know I’m in the minority on this one but I was not a fan.
