If Uncle Charlie weren’t a character I would’ve rated this 4-5 stars and a perfect intro to horror for middle school kids. As it is, I’m torn. The fact that family can include people who try to harm and that we can’t always tell people’s intentions up front are good things for a kid to learn, but I’m not sure those aspects came across in the most appropriate way in this story.
