I cannot rate this book objectively because my nostalgia for reading it at age, like, 8 and it being one of the first pieces of properly romance-centric/teen-drama media I got into colors all my feelings about it. I love Momo and the way she's misunderstood because of her appearance, and how she's both sure of herself in terms of wanting to be A Good Friend and Generally Fine Person and deeply insecure--it's quintessential bullied teenager vibes. I love to hate Sae; she's a terrible friend and has so many of her own issues, but I do love the little drama causing gal for her role as the story's instigator. Toji is sweet, Kairi is spicy, and all of them are drawn in the manga equivalent of a CW show. It's pretty people having interpersonal drama at its best and I'm so excited to finally have all the books in the series to read finally and compare the books to the show.
