Serenity Hope by Michael Winstell

This is a new-to-me author. I’m trying to find and read more male Christian fiction authors.

This was a simple romance. It felt a little young for me as a 50+ woman but we can all relate to young love. Seeing forgiveness and love blossoming under difficult circumstances is always heartwarming. The characters were likeable and I loved the familial atmosphere.

Sometimes the western lingo seemed kind of forced or over-the-top but it’s not something I’ve ever been around. I don’t know any adult female who would be in such a tither about wearing a ribbon in her hair — or would wear one at all. And men do not notice ribbons, barrettes, etc. The FMC seemed to wobble back and forth from behind a girl and being a woman.

Without revealing spoilers, I am wondering how Rick’s plan ever happened considering the very short notice at the event that cinched the deal. There was no time to plan anything, unless I missed something.

I have the next two books in the series since they were all free at the time. It’s nice to have a simple romance once in a while. It’s definitely a feel-good book.
