I was simply not the target audience for this book. I struggled so hard through the first 50 pages, then I put it down for over a month. The audio became available and I was able to push through it on audio, otherwise I would have never finished it. 

I liked the current day timeline, with the mystery and the characters personal plot line, but the history timeline and plot really lost me and all of my interest. The writing was absolutely wonderful, but I just wasn't the audience for it.
