Lily and Dunkin by Donna Gephart

4.0

I read this for Queer Lit Readathon, and I am so glad I did! It had been on my radar for ages but I never got around to it until now and I am sad it took me so long! The friendship between Dunkin and Lily was so sweet, and it really felt like a middle school experience.

my main issue with the book was that I expected something very different out of the description saying Dunkin was bipolar. The book itself never used that word, ever. By the end, there were a lot of symptoms Dunkin and that imply very different mental health issues, not Bipolar disorder. I think he did have that as well but it was never properly addressed considering it is a selling point of the book's description.
