How to Kiss a Movie Star by Jenny Proctor
5.0
Jenny Proctor has expertly delivered an absolutely fantastic series finale in How to Kiss a Movie Star! Pairing a handsome, well-known actor with a socially awkward, yet brilliant biologist, she pulls out all the stops in this hilarious, dreamy romance!
I loved this book from the first few lines and could hardly put it down, wanting to return to it as soon as I did! This novel is one that immediately wraps you up in the chemistry between the FMC and MMC, eagerly wanting to cheer for them to come together and dying to see what happens next. The tension and magnetism were palpable… and the inner dialogue was fantastic!
Audrey (Dr. Callahan) was a lead who surprised me in many ways. I found her easily relatable and somewhat-introverted, yet fun and quirky as well. She is true to herself and that alone is admirable. She is also strong, driven and brilliant. Witnessing her step outside of her comfort zone was rewarding, not to mention full of mild angst and smile-inducing moments as certain realizations about herself surface. Her relationship with her sisters and family was sweet as well. Side note: I also LOVED that Proctor included the white squirrels who are native to the Brevard, NC area as they are some of my favorite animals on earth!
Flint Hawthorne is every ladies’ man! He’s gorgeous, wealthy, popular and a total softy! I enjoyed seeing his character evolve and watching him fall for Audrey as well as support and protect her. It’s always fun to watch the popular guy fall for the wallflower! He was the perfect gentleman, the perfect hero and really, probably, my favorite Hawthorne brother (Sorry, Brody!). My heart went out to him time and again for the things he had to endure all in the name of fame.
The fake dating trope was well done in this story and it’s one of my favorites so I do not enjoy it when it’s not presented well. This was not only believable, it was flirty and fun, making the romance enjoyable, sexy and oh-so-good.
Of course, like the other books in this series, I highly enjoyed the secondary characters who often made me laugh-out-loud with their antics, the sweet threads of family and brotherhood/sisterhood, and of course, the text conversations. I also can’t forget points for the jet-setting locations of the Blue Ridge Mountains to NYC to L.A. So fun!
A must-read and a definite recommendation if you enjoy books that are clean and wholesome but include steamy, swoon-worthy romance and threads of family, love, respect and humor!
Content Warnings + Trigger Warnings: PG Rated (making out, detailed kissing, some suggestive phrases, no nudity or explicit content).
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC e-copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own and I was not required to post a positive review.
