Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head by Warsan Shire

4.25

I stumbled across Warsan Shire's poem Home online a while ago, which meant that when I spotted her poetry collection in a book store I bought it on impulse. What a great impulse. What a wonderful poetry collection! The poems are hard-hitting illustrations of womanhood, migration, and trauma. There was a glossary in the back that I wish I knew of before reading the collection, but which will undoubtedly heighten the experience whenever I decide to reread this. And I definitely will. I didn't have enough time to dive as deep into the individual poems as I wanted, so a reread is on the horizon.
