The Good Soldier by Ford Madox Ford

4.0

The most annoying cast of characters you'll ever meet.

The rhythm and formatting of the writing were really good, but at times too frustraing for me to bear. I also really didn't enjoy the condemnation of women in this book, especially after reading 'the Awakening', but I suppose that's part of the charm of an unreliable narrator, totally wild thoughts often uttered by the male narrators (yikes, but also amazing when executed well).

I did really like the way this crept up on me like a slow, bored narrative completely freaking me out about the conventions and horrible character traits produced by the Edwardian Era. That excess of first-world-problems combined with the most horrible people ever provided a funny and extremely annoying critique of the people who called themselves "good" (soldiers)
