Muhammad's Recipe for Remembering is going to be a wonderful addition to the list of books to read for Remembrance Day - highlighting a cultural group that is usually overlooked when talking about World War II and contributions to the war. In this picture book, Muhammad feels that he is unable to take part in the conversations and games that his classmates partake in as the others share and show off relics and medals from their family members who were honoured for fighting in the war. When Muhammad asks his family about whether anyone ever fought in the war, he finds out that they have - but there is no longer anything to show for it. He is surprised to find out that they would also eat roti, and share them with other soldiers. He is inspired by the stories he hears to share his discovery with the school. This is a such a great story to share that celebrates cultural heritage, family history, and the importance of passing down stories through the generations.
