The difference between the start and end of this story is stark. Until the 30% mark, I was ready to DNF; the narrative was so academic, monotonous, and overly detailed that it almost seemed non-fictional. However, I kept reading because I was curious about how a young boy ended up in a boat with a tiger (I haven't watched the movie or read the blurb).
Then Pi's journey began, and I couldn't stop reading; I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was an exhilarating journey until the last page. The ending and the symbolism of it all crushed my heart. And I wept.
