Evelina by Frances Burney

I had so much fun reading this! A great satire on 18th century society, class and etiquette. Many scenes were painful to get through, but that was part of the joy. I couldn't bear to look away even when poor Evelina's humiliation and confusion were almost too much to bear.
It's also a great commentary on the persistent sexual harrassment that women experience, which I didn't expect. I'm sure that many of the scenes in which men just won't leave Evelina alone will be relatable to many.
The last 10% or so dragged on a little, but other than that it was delightful.
