Oh boy. The closer I got to the end the more I struggled with it.
1) why create a matriarchal world (ish) with deep lore and fully fleshed out characters to make the fucking chosen one, the protagonist,,,, a boy. Tiring.
2) to have created such incredible depth of interplanetary politics and whole worlds with species and languages and religions, and then call the main character…. Paul. PAUL. Who bullied you Frank
3) the closer to the end the stronger the colonial white-saviour vibes
4) didn’t love the “oh we know they’re a villain because they’re fat, ugly, and gay”. Pls. Pls no more.
