Second Story Man by Eric Ugland

3.0

Mostly everything from my review of the first book applies here too. All the bad things from the first one haven't been fixed though, but worsened. The plot was messier and the game mechanics were kind of weird. It felt like nothing happened and no progression was made. Clyde got another building and met a couple of new people, but aside from that: nothing. He wants to learn magic but puts no effort into it? I can barely remember any specifics surrounding this book, even though I listened to it just last week. It was pretty unmemorable. I do remember the ending though. It basically made everything that happened throughout the book entirely pointless, which is a bit frustrating.
SpoilerSince he spends a lot of time trying to warn the emperor, but he dies anyway. And then the whole guild is destroyed, and then he manages to get captured. He acts like an idiot. Having read the third book in the series I know all of this is a necessary preface. So I'm just going to consider this whole book a preface to the next instalment in the series haha.
Still entertaining and pleasant to listen to while cleaning, but definitely not an improvement from the first one.
