The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

emotional inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

4.0

It’s been a while since I felt truly present in my own life, in my own power, in my womanhood. But I’m here now.

if you thought britney has been through a lot.. you don't know anything.
I'm glad she decided to tell her story, there's definitely more to it than it seemed.
ever since she was young, media and her family has been manipulating every single thing being said about her, she was isolated and being mentally and emotionally abused–i understand why she choose not to narrate the audiobook herself, it gets really difficult at times and of course she wouldn't want to re live any of it.
she was a child trying to do what she loved and everyone around her just disregarded her entirely, even when she was an adult–it was so hard to hear all she's been through and to think "how could they let them damage her so much?" but I guess for some people things like that weren't perceived as much as it may be today.
I admire her so much, her display of strength and how much of a fight she put over and over, and didn't have up even tho she felt there wasn't much of a fight left in her. she's admirable, not only as an artist but as a person.

somehow I felt the book was kind of.. on the surface level? there were details than she choose not to share that I believe it would've make more understandable her situation at a times, I'm not much for a gossip, I'm not saying it for that but some things were disregarded quickly and her feelings weren't entirely conveyed, things kind of get lost.
