Legendary Star-Lord, Vol. 1: Face It, I Rule by Sam Humphries, Paco Medina
3.0
It feels like something is missing here. Possibly an explanation of how we got to the point where this collection starts. There are enough clues given that I can be fairly sure of when to place it in regards to the other Guardians trades I've read. But we start off with Star-lord off on his own, without any information given to us about why? I mean, the obvious answer is "well, duh. Solo title". But from what I can recall of the various issues of Wolverine I picked up back in the day, they usually gave a reason why he was off on his own for any particular story line (besides the obvious "solo title" and "he's kind of a loner if you haven't noticed" reasons).
What's here is pretty good. Of the five issues collected, three tie together into a storyline of sorts, with one issue in the middle of those that a bit of a random side quest, and one at the end that seems to just be set up for the next collection. They seem to be going for a one step ahead of his enemies style conman with Star-Lord's characterization. And I would like to see more of some of the side characters they introduced. So I'll probably give the series another chance at some point.
