RAFE was a drama-free, easy read to get me through the weekend. Male nannies are rare in the romance world and I just couldn't resist giving this one a try after reading the description of our muscled and manly hero. I loved the contradiction that Rafe presents as a big tough looking guy who's actually really gentle, calm, and sweet. He's so great with kids and seems to really understand Sloan's daughters, Addison and Avery. The beta hero is really underappreciated in my opinion and I was so happy to see a romance hero who is just genuinely nice and kind to everyone. He quickly finds himself a part of their family and wanting more than just an employee based relationship.

With an out of control attraction, Rafe isn't sure how he'll work for Sloan so he's up front about how he feels and though he lets her know about his attraction he makes it clear that he will remain professional at all times. But Sloan is also attracted to Rafe and with some encouragement from her friends, she realizes that as two consenting adults they can explore their mutual attraction. I really liked that both Rafe and Sloan are very "adult" about everything and they talk through their issues or concerns. There are no misunderstandings to tear them apart or cause problems. This is a fluffy and light romance that focuses more on a gently growing relationship rather than the obstacles that can get in the way.

My only small complaint is that I wish Rafe and Sloan had waited a little longer before getting intimate so that some of the tension could build. While they have a quiet chemistry there's almost no resistance or tension to their relationship. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing it did make it so that their relationship doesn't really stand out in the overall story.
