This book started off fine. The writing takes a bit to get used to and the story is kind of confusing, but once you kind of overlook all of that and get into it's good.

And then there's the twist. And it really just did not work for me. I loved the protagonist that we got at the beginning of the book because they were so interesting and unconventional, but we end up with someone who feels rather cliche. I was really disappointed by it, and it really just took me out of the rest of the book.

The world is also very confusing. I think it's meant to be a post-apocalyptic dystopia, though at what point did this world diverge from ours? We don't get enough explanation of the world and the random references that hint at things that never get explored further. But the butcherings of French are interesting, I guess.
