The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi

5.0

The Last Tale of the Flower Bride was exactly my kind of magical weirdness! The writing here was so beautiful and I loved how Roshani Chokshi made use of a non-linear narrative to tell this story.

The slow build up of the plot and how the Bridegroom and Azure were connected through Indigo was absolutely fantastic. It took me a little while to understand how the pieces fit together, but Chokshi did a great job at using magical elements to develop and progress the narrative. It kept me guessing up until the very end.

The characters here were also so intriguing. The dynamic between Indigo and Azure and between the Bridegroom and Indigo were so!! twisted in the best possible ways. Sometimes loving someone is really complicated and the way that was explored here was beautiful and pretty messed up.

The ending was a tiny bit expected, personally, but I still very much enjoyed how it was executed. I was unable to put the book down until the final little tidbit of plot unraveled and I think it was a fitting ending to the tale.
