The Power by Naomi Alderman
4.0
Wow. The Power is such an interesting examination of gender, power structures, and the nature of power itself.
It’s extremely uncomfortable to read at times, and has this strange ironic sense of unbelievable-ness.
This book is violent, and when this violence begins to be inflicted on men—who are normally the perpetrators, not the victims—it seems strange and otherworldly. But then you remember that women face that exact same violence every day, and yet it’s seen as normal.
Anyways, I really, really loved this. It’s intensely thought provoking.
