Neanderthal Marries Human by Penny Reid
4.0
I’ll be honest, I’m having a hard time deciding how I feel about this book. I loved it for the fact that we got more Janie content, but I also genuinely hated some parts of this. Usually, when the male lead’s POV is introduced, it makes my heart clench, it’s gives me butterflies, that why I usually love them so much. However, that was not the case this time round. In fact, his POV put me off massively. I really liked his character in the first book, but now that I’ve seen into his mind, I don’t feel the same way. I’m unable to tell you what exactly it was about it that I hated so much, all I know is that his thoughts disgusted me in a way. No, they were gruesome or anything like that, they just grated me in a way. Another part that I absolutely hated were all the Chapters from the Las Vegas part of the book. I would have loved to do without them and I wish I could erase it from my memory. In fact, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Poof, it’s gone.
Apart from these problem, I had a great time. As a whole, this book was...alright, it certainly didn’t live up to the standard of the first, but that’s to be expected since sequels are never good. I’d say that this book deserves 3 stars, however, I thought that ending was so sweet - honestly, mostly just because of Desmond and Janie’s new way of thinking - that I gave it an extra star on top. I don’t know, for some reason it just hit me in the heart.
