Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo
5.0
Read March 2023
I was expecting this to be a straight up romance book but while it does have a romance element, I would personally describe it more as a coming-of-age story. One that's about navigating both being queer (lesbian?) and Chinese American in 1950s Chinatown, San Francisco.
As you probably already guessed from my 5-star rating, I loved Last Night at the telegraph Club! I love how Queer it is and I love the setting. Also, A couple of times throughout the book there's a chapter from the pov of one of Lily's relatives, which I really liked. It was nice to get to know some of her family members in a way that wasn't just through Lily's eyes.
