I found this much more interesting than the first book of the Krillonian Chronicles. Both stories moved at a slow pace, but the stakes were higher in this one, and I felt like it also had stronger themes built into the plot. I still don't feel as connected to the characters as I'd like, but I'm invested enough to continue the series!
