A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon

5.0

 Read June 2023
I went into this mostly excited, but also slightly hesitant because, while I liked the first one, I didn't actually love it. Mostly because I didn't like all of the POVs in Priory. Thankfully this one comes with a different set of POVs, and I love them all.

A Day of Fallen night also just feels more balanced overall and I love the casual queerness. I did get a little worried when I realised the story involved a sickness/pandemic as that's not something I love to read about since covid, but it actually worked really well for me.

With (high/adult) fantasy being a bit more of a challenge to read (for me personally), I don't often pick it up as it takes more time and brain space, but I'm so glad I read this one! It's probably never going to be my main reading genre, but I really need to make it more of a priority.
