The Bride by S. Doyle
4.0
A surprisingly delightful read.
Did not know what to expect from this when I strayed it but I have to say I enjoyed the heck out of it.
Sixteen year old Ellie was left alone when her father died of a sudden heart attack. As she is only sixteen her only options are to be sent to Florida to live with an aunt in drug rehab, go into foster care or marry Jake, the adult son of her dad's friend and ranch manager. He is her father's right hand man and the hottest guy in their Montana town.
Refusing to allow Ellie to be put into foster care, Jake chooses to marry Ellie, a marriage of convenience, until she turns eighteen. This will be easy for them especially since they grew up together and are like brother and sister anyway.
I loved the way the author kept the dynamic of their relationship so open and innocent. You never got a creepy older man, teen girl vibe from them. Their constant banter was so much like siblings that it made it easy and fun to read the book. Jake's crazy ex-girlfriend gave the book a bit of drama.
I shed a tear when Ellie broke down after the wedding and Jake understood and took such good care of her. And later in the book, after the storm, in the bathroom...that was HOT!
I am eager to read the next installment of this series and pray that it will be as wonderful as "The Bride".
