Tigers, Not Daughters by Samantha Mabry

❝So who knows how many angry spirits I've been carrying around with me all the time. ❞

I see any book centered around female anger and I simply sprint. Samantha Mabry writes beautifully and every single word I read was visceral and settled deep inside of me. As someone who is immeasurably close to my sisters and has a family steeped in spirits and lore, this book easily slid its way into my heart.

It is very reminiscent of The Virgin Suicides and Mabry does a wonderful job of haunting you and pulling you in all at the same time. I definitely felt more connected to Rosa and Iridian, but every character ( except for the sh*tty men ) wormed their way into my good graces.

This is a beautiful novel and it made my throat so tight, like a dam trying again before giving way to the water.

❝Human hearts are very complicated. They can pull a person this way, then that. They can convince someone easy things are hard, or cloudy things are clear.❞
