To Sir Phillip, With Love by Julia Quinn

1.0

The thing is. I get a lot of this might be period accurate… it wasn’t written then. So NONE of this feels romantic or excusable.

Particularly the blaming of depression on the depressed person and being angry at them in an unsympathetic way

And the lack of empathy in “because you haven’t suffered like I’ve suffered your feelings are unimportant”

And literally was Philip likable at all?! Like in the previous 4 books I felt all the characters had redeemable qualities even when I felt there was a lot of problematic plots. But this one was just BAD. There was nothing romantic or fun about this story.

Idk. I only finished this because people seem to think the last 3 are good so I’m just curious but god I’m not sure I’ll finish the series they’re all just so problematic and the “love stories” are getting worse. …

The redeemable qualities are when the bridgertons are hanging out together which is roughly one to two scenes per book.

I hope this book gets a lot of changes if it gets adapted into the series (and I feel it will….)
