As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh
Did not finish book. Stopped at 45%.
Firstly, I realized I set my expectations too high based on its high rating, and that's on me. Turns out, it's not to my taste.
Secondly, the romance amidst a chaotic world doesn't sit right with me. How can someone be all blushy and smiling when it's hard enough to eat and stay alive? I just don't like it. Again, it's my fault due to my expectations.
Lastly, the characters here are quite selfish, at least in the first half of the book. How could someone risk a child's life for their own advantage? Even the main character is quite judgmental and selfish for my liking.
However, everyone's experience with a book can be different. What's bad for me might be good for you and vice versa. So take my words with a grain of salt. Still, the book is a letdown for me, and I'm no longer curious about the rest. I will DNF this book.
