Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive by Stephanie Land
4.0
I'm still thinking this one over and unpacking everything Stephanie Land tells us in her memoir. It takes guts to share a story like this one. She calls herself a nameless ghost, but does so well at opening the reader's eyes to the injustices that people in poverty face. Every story is different. Every story matters! I hope she finds peace and love as she continues on her journey.
“When a person is too deep in systemic poverty, there is no upward trajectory. Life is struggle and nothing else. But for me, many of my decisions came from an assumption that things would, eventually, start to improve.”― Stephanie Land, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive
