This felt faced paced and had me hooked early on.
“Charlie might be a normal persons eight - but he was a writers ten, for sure”.
Soent a lot of time questions Charlie. He’d do something nice and then his next move would be a full 180. Not surprised Emma was unsure about their dynamic.
“As a favour. She has no job, no money, and absolutely nothing going for her”
At times this felt more like contemporary literature than a romance.
“The two leads will wind up together. That’s what the audience showed up for…if you don’t give it to them, it’s beyond unsatisfying - it’s a violation of trust”
Still one I enjoyed it, especially their excursions to undertake research for their romcom (see line dancing).
“No six-foot cowboys for you”
Plenty of swoony and quotable moments too.
“I googled how long it takes to fall in love…eighty eight days. And we’ve only know each of for thirty-one”
Found the dynamic with her family and the guilt she holds with that an interesting side plot in the story.
