The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen

3.75

I liked rather than loved The Bridge Kingdom. I know quite a few people who adore it so it's a little disappointing that I didn't join their ranks, but I did have a decent time reading it.

It has many elements that I usually love - politics, diplomatic marriage, family relationships, worldbuilding, a compelling and skilled female main character. I struggle to actually articulate why it didn't work for me but for some reason the connection just wasn't there. It doesn't help that I spent most of the book waiting for the scenes I knew had to come eventually, and what comes after them is largely saved for the sequel.

I do think this is a well written book so I would recommend that others try it out, I just sadly didn't love it as much as I wanted to.
