Review: Charming Deception puts a spin on the classic fairytale of Cinderella and Prince Charming! Jaine Diamond did a wonderful job creating an edgy, modern day spin on this classic and Jameson Vance was the perfect Vance sibling to step into the role of the β€œCharming Prince”. This book was intense and deceptive throughout the whole read and I loved seeing both Jameson and Megan evolve and mature as they grew closer together.

This book was centered around the family β€œgame” that the Vance siblings entered in with their late grandfather, β€œthe Game-master”, and Charming Deception follows the challenge given to Jameson, who is the youngest Vance sibling, as he struggles to complete the challenge given to him by one of his siblings. I found the mystery and intrigue surrounding the challenges and the idea of a game to secure their inheritance to be riveting and appreciated that Jaine kept us guessing about who gave Jameson his and why they picked what they did for a good portion of the book. One area I truly loved in this book though was how all the Vance siblings did not turn on one another, even if the tensions were high at times.

Jameson and Megan were a cute couple and I enjoyed how both were multi-layered and not just surface value in their backgrounds. The cinnamon roll side of Jameson made me swoon throughout the book and I adored how he became obsessed with Megan’s books. I also enjoyed the devious side of Megan as she became more bold with the terms of their fake engagement and more steadfast in her feelings towards him. I found that these two had a ton of chemistry but what made them was the way they could communicate, even with the secrecy surrounding the game and challenge Jameson was completing.

There was no third act breakup in this book which I think was perfect for this storyline. The way Megan truly proved she trusted Jameson warmed my heart but also proved how resilient and strong she truly was and it made me happy that Jameson had finally found his match. Jaine threw us tidbits in this book of what was to come and I am thoroughly excited for Harlan’s book next!

Rating: 5/5, An all new take on the fake fiancΓ© and forced proximity trope! The Vance siblings come out blazing in this first installment of the all new Bayshore Billionaires series and Jameson did not disappoint!
