I would have probably been happier if Alanna didn't end up with a man at all, though I realize this is YA and I would definitely not felt that way as a teenager. Still, it was a fun book. It's nice to see Alanna reuniting and coming into a comfortable place with Jonathan, understanding they love one another but have different lives/goals. And even with her "settling down" in the epilogue, it's clear that she is still herself. She really never compromises her dreams and ambitions for anyone. That's important, I think. I rate this a bit low though because it didn't feel like as strong of an ending as I'd hoped for. Not sure exactly what I wanted different, but earlier books ramped up the stakes and this didn't really seem to continue that trend. Still, it was an enjoyable and cozy read.
