The Seduction of Unreason: The Intellectual Romance with Fascism from Nietzsche to Postmodernism by Richard Wolin

2.0

I checked this book out as I was having some uncomfortable feelings about some of the ideas I was reading, especially in Georges Bataille, and so I sought a critical view of Bataille and poststructuralism in general.

I have to say that this author is not presenting the full picture of Bataille and poststructuralism arguments in good faith and this reads to me like a person who had a message they wanted to convey and then selectively read to argue that message.

I am giving this 2-stars because there are actually very good points made in regard to the affinities between fascism and poststructuralism; arguments which have now spurred me to do further research on my own. Unfortunately, I will not incorporate Wolin’s work in this future research due to his selective and not good faith reading of these authors as I lost my trust in his motives.
