There is a saying “idle hands are the devil’s workshop” well at the Coopers Chase Retirement Village they seem to take this idea seriously and several of the residents have set up a Thursday Murder Club utilising the skills they developed in their various occupations. So when a real life case occurs right on their doorstep they get stuck in.

We follow a lot of what happens through one resident Joyce’s perspective as she recounts events.

I liked the idea, the investigation and the characters and it often made me laugh but not so much the conclusion but I definitely feel that the journey was worth it.  It isn’t realistically written especially the involvement of the local police but still I really liked this aspect of the story.

However I did particularly think what worked especially well was seeing life through the eyes of the residents in the village as they faced getting older and the various feelings they had, attitudes of others towards them and how some had given up whilst many still faced life with determination.

I’m looking forward to seeing where the Thursday Murder Club goes next.
